Parque das Neblinas

Located in Brazil, between Sao Paolo and Bertioga city on the Atlantic Ocean, the Parque das Neblinas is a nature reserve which covers 2800 square meters.
In the 50's, forest produce charcoal to iron industry; in 60's Suzano Papel e Celulose...
In 1988 the idea was born of environmental concepts on the forest production.Proper conditions to create a Private Protected Area. In 1999 the Instituto Ecofuturo created this nature reserve.
Today, Research and Management Program is biodiversity surveys, Atlantic rain forest restoration and the forest management.
The Parque das Neblinas is biodiversity surveys for
Birds: 229 species. (1 threatened)
Anphibians: 47 species (1 rare, 2 unknown)
Ants: 144 species (1 unknown)
Mammals: 29 species (8 threatened)
Flagship species – Tapir, Wooly spider monkey, Jaguar
Fish: 8 species (1 rarae, 4 threatened)
Orchids: 94 species (one is the smallest of the world)
Trees: 315 species (11 threatened, 1 unknown, 101 under eucalypts).
The Parque das Neblinas wants to promote a better relationship between man and the environment.
Because of these efforts, in 2007, the Parque das Neblinas was recognized as an 'Advanced Base of the Atlantic Rain Forest Biosphere Reserve' by UNESCO "Man and Biosphere Program".
