Traditions and memories are a precious commodity during the holidays and though times are tight it is important to pass these to the next generation. One thing I have missed since my children have all grown, but will be able to enjoy again with my grandson is "baby gift wrapping". I have passed this information to my eldest daughter in the hopes that she too will enjoy this holiday ritual that has been in my family for years."Baby gift wrapping" is enjoyable to all involved as long as a few guidelines are followed.
1) Find a nice sturdy box. The contents of the box may be slightly heavy and may move around from side to side. heavy duty cardboard works just fine.
2) Choose some festive wrapping paper, preferable something that will keep the baby's attention, and wrap the box. Include bows or ribbon, but be sure to keep them out of reach or they won't stay on the package long.
3) Test the box for various scenarios such as movement, taste test. and texture. This is a very crucial step. There is a lot of drool and other things that go on that could cause an unnecessary mess
The last step the baby will be glad to assist you with. The size and shape are not a huge issue as long as the baby will fit inside. It may be a good idea to include a couple of toys and a blanket in case baby decides to nap during the testing of your project. Not a holiday, no problem. You can always decorate your "baby gift box" with crayon, markers or finger paints. For an abstract look allow the baby to use this medium. Chances are baby and box will coordinate nicely. It is true.....what they say about "baby gifts"......they will always prefer the box.
