Korean War Memorial - Washington, DC
By Frank Summers

A Tribute to those who served in or died in the Korean "War" Conflict.
Conflict, Police Action.... War by another name, our first, but unfortunately not our last.
To those who fought there or died there, our thanks for serving our country in time of war. Over 33,000 US dead and over 92,000 wounded in three years of hostilities. "Freedom Is Not Free"
North Korea attacks South Korea on June 25, 1950 - ending date... well, there is no peace treaty, North and South are still "enemies", both wanting to be unified under their own form of government. Divided at the end of World War II by Russia and the United States at the 38th Parallel. During the war each side defeating the other only to end up dead locked and back at the 38th.
Dedication of the Korean War Veterans Memorial was held July 27, 1995. President Clinton and South Korean President Kim Young Sam in attendance. The 19 statues are 7' 3" to 7' 6" and weighing 1,000 pounds, made from roughened stainless steel. The statues are in a V formation in wind-whipped ponchos. Fourteen are Army, three Marines, one Navy and one Air Force. The 19 are reflected in the wall, which doubles the number to 38.
Say a prayer for the Veterans and families of those who served in "The Forgotten War"
