Early Movie Memories
By Penny Nannini

Who doesn't love going to the movies? We all have special movie memories. My earliest memory of going to the movies was when I was about four years old. We lived in Chula Vista, California. My mom would give us our baths and have us put our pajamas on at about 4:00 pm, and then we would all hop in the car with blankets and pillows and head out to the local drive in. As soon as we got there we would get to play at a playground that was always right under the enormous screen. Then we would get to buy a huge popcorn to share and some sodas, and my dad would spread a blanket on the hood of the car for us to watch the pre-movie cartoons. My dad always liked those big ole 'boat like' Cadillac's back then, which was perfect for movie nights. After the cartoons we would have to go to sleep before the 'grown up' movies like "Goldfinger", and "A Shot In The Dark", started. There we three of us kids, so my sister who is the oldest would get the seat, and my poor brother (the middle child), would sleep on the floor with the 'hump', and I always got the back window (so I could still see the movie, when my parents thought that I was asleep). My love of cinema has only grown since those wonderful summer nights.
