The Eggxperiment

Taking photos of raw egg isn't exactly the first thing you think of when you think of photography. In fact I hadn't even considered it until I saw the photo challenge in JPG. How many ways can you really shoot a raw egg with a simple background??
Sometimes you just have to eggxperiment!! (pun 100% intended!!)
First I wanted to use something that would remain constant throughout all the photographs, something that would cast cool shadows and work well with different lighting effects. This was gratefully provided by my mom's favorite plate. For most of the photos I used a standard white lightbulb. Just one, nothing fancy. Most of the photos are shot from directly above, standing on just a stool or bench, except for one, which i shot from below through glass. I would have loved to experiment with more photos from below with different lighting except for a small casualty to the glass (Just a tip to anyone else who wants to take photos from below glass - especially if its of a raw egg - make sure the glass is on a stable surface...cleaning up raw egg from a carpet doesn't exactly make for a fun photo experiment!). A flash was used for only one of the photos (it looks like a blue filter but it's just the effect the flash had in a dim room).
Overall the whole experiment was a blast! Using raw egg photography to convey larger messages is certainly an original idea! Thanks to JPG for the inspiration!!
