Hafnarfjördur is one of iceland's most important economic centres situated about ten kilometers south of the capital. Hafnarfjördur is on the way to Keflavik international airport and to the Blue Lagoon. From Hafnarfjördur it takes less than ten minutes by taxi to go to Reykjavik. Football club FH Hafnarfjörður won Iceland's championship 2005. Hafnarfjördur is the second largest port in iceland. Hafnarfjördur is the official Elf capital of the world. Hafnarfjördur nestles on a 10,000 year old lava field. Hafnarfjördur is also one of the Iceland's largest fishing centres.
