Sequoia and Kings Canyon

Man!!! it took me a long time to get up here...

I did not know what to expect when I was planning this trip to Sequoia and Kings Canyon. I did know that I love going to national parks. Of course I had also heard about the beautiful sequoias and the bears that inhabit the park. Its so great that two national parks are next to each other with such a contrast in terrain.

We spent the first couple of days at Sequoia. You hear about how big and beautiful the sequoias are but you really have to see them to believe it. I did see bears more than once. A couple of those times they were too close for comfort. Crystal cave was a great thing to see. You really have to have good cardio for the half hour climb down and the climb back up. But it is worth it to see a living cave. Another highlight was Moro rock. When you are at the top you can see hundreds of miles in every direction. It is such surreal place. And the surprise was Hume lake. Its was unexpected to find a lake in the middle of those mountains. The water is so blue and it sparkles with the gold flakes that are floating around from the local rocks.

We spent the rest of the vacation at Kings canyon. The Canyon walls are so colorful. You would never expect to see reds, greens, blues and grays on canyon walls. The highlight of this place is all the rivers and waterfalls that are all around . When I was in the canyon it brought back memories of the time that I spent at the valley in Yosemite.

I enjoyed this trip so much. I would love to see that place in the snow. I would recommend this place to anyone that enjoys nature.
