LEWIS & CLARK TRAIL (OREGON TO MONTANA)

For a 2-week vacation back in September of 2006, my wife and I were able to venture along a bit of the Lewis and Clark Trail. We started at the Pacific shoreline in Oregon and made it to the western border of Montana. These photographs were taken during the biennial celebration of the monumental expedition that Meriwether Lewis and William Clark's "Corp of Discovery" undertook in 1804-1806.
As a photographer I strive to make photographs that juxtapose the ideals and values of the past with those of the present. The trail's places and vistas are awe-inspiring. I wanted to capture those exhilarating places from a 21st century viewpoint. Today, following in Lewis and Clark's footsteps, we can experience all the grandeur they did while enjoying the luxuries of a porta-pot and even a spare tire, should our vehicle run into trouble.
