The last night of Summer in Bergen, Norway

As a last rite of summer, freshman students at Bergen University in Norway charter a large boat, pack it with beer and wine and head into the bay to celebrate the last night of freedom before the fall semester begins. On this special night, crazy things happen. Once the boat and party hits shore, a conga line forms, dancing in the street begins and then a few students strip down to their underwear and jump into the bay...all 55 degrees of it. A couple of groups split off and create a competition of who can have the larger group of crazy swimmers and who can make the bigger spash. All great fun, until the night air takes over, the chill sets in, and the students head to a local pub for warmth and more liquid. If only I was maybe 40 years younger...in my dreams.
