One Year

I can't believe it! In just over 6 hours, my son Lukas will be celebrating his 1st birthday!
This time last year I was experiencing strong contractions. Despite the wrenching pain on my lower back, I felt totally relaxed. After each tightening pressure that brought me to my knees, a feeling of elation soon-after took over. My body was on overdrive: adrenaline pumping, hormones raging and yet, I was calm and composed.
I've always thought child birth is overrated, and the joys that came with it are exaggerated Hollywood-style. I never understood it until it consumed me. It really is a sublime feeling.
The clock is ticking. I glanced at my son as he slept soundly - I love you little man, more than I could ever fathom.
