Grandma's Flower
By Melissa Ferrara

My grandmother passed away the day before Mothers' Day. She was the mother of 3 and was married to my grandfather for about 61 years. She hated getting her picture taken, but she loved flowers. This flower was part of the arrangement that was on her casket. I took it to remember her.
I didn't know what to do with the flower once I got it. I could've put it in a book, or put it in a vase to try to preserve it as much as I could. Instead it just sat on the table and turned out this way. I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
Since flowers were something she loved, I decided to take shots of it because photography is something I love. (So I guess it's bringing both of the things we love together.) Enjoy.
