See the Children!

Rocket

I have always been drawn to things and places that people leave behind. I have an ongoing series I call Left Behind. Within that series I have smaller essays. This is See the Children.

My husband and I were driving on I-95 south and at the border of North and South Carolina I saw this deserted motel with an awesome playground in the back. We had to stop. The pieces were metal and wood, not safe nowadays. The layers of paint added color and texture.

I could just see the children that had enjoyed this playground and tried to capture some of the things they would have seen.

Can you see the children?
