Larry Joe Treadway aka Tread proudly announces the inclusion of his work in two major Spring shows. The Art of Photography Show--San Diego, an international exhibition, will open April 14, 2007. The Show will be held at the Lyceum Theatre Gallery located in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter from April 14 to May 28, 2007. Approximately 20,000 people are expected to view the Show during the six-week run.
From more than 9800 entries submitted by artists representing 37 countries, 103 pieces will be exhibited. Tim Wride, curator and head of the department of photographs at the Los Angeles Museum of Art, juried the exhibition.
The second show--Exhibition 280--Huntington, West Virginia is regional show with a stellar reputation. It will be held this year from April 21 to July 1, 2007. Since 1953, the Huntington Museum of Art has held this regional, juried exhibit, providing artists a consistent venue for having their work exhibited in a professional setting alongside the work of their peers. The exhibit also presents the opportunity for artists to have their work seen by important, nationally known figures in the art world.
The show is juried by David Butler and Mark Masouka. David Butler is the Executive Director of the Knoxville Museum of Art. Mark Masouka is Executive Director and Chief Curator at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Omaha, NE.
There were over 241 artists from West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Kentucky who entered nearly 700 works. 87 artists were selected and 126 works will be presented. Tread will be exhibiting an impressive 3 different works in the show.
Tread is also nominated in 3 different categories for a 2007 Photobloggie. The Photobloggies is an annual award ceremony celebrating the best in the online world of photo artists who publish ongoing weblogs from around the world. Editors from select photography magazines make up the panel of judges, as well as the open online nomination phase, where peers helped select standout photo work on the web. Tread is nominated in the categories of: Best Writing on a Photoblog, Best Toy Camera Photography and the prestigious Photoblog of the Year. Winners will be announced live in Chicago on April 27 at the 2nd annual North America Photobloggers Meeting. Tread was nominated and won a 2006 Photobloggie for Best Writing on a Photoblog at last year's ceremony.
