Photographing The People Around You

I've recently decided that I want to get into shooting people oriented photos without having to go out on a model search. I put out a call to all of my friends in the area and asked them to join me for an hour of photography fun. I was excited to find that this was a great resource as the friends who got back to me had some interesting ideas and were ready to take on the challege.
Not only was this idea to help build my portfolio, but also to provide my friends with portraits that they can treasure or use for their own projects.
I like to think of my photography style as collaborative. When I shoot a series for a friend or family member, I don't use the general "direct them" mentality. I like to ask them what feels comfortable, and let them try new things while I find angles and frame it.
These photos here have come from such shoots, and I have several more lined up!
