Graffiti Weekend

Classic cars bring out all certain types of feelings in people. Some love the loud roar of the engines while others enjoy the detailed paint. Here in Douglas County Oregon we have an event called Graffiti Weekend where people come from miles around (many from California and Washington) to show off their classics. Here is an excerpt from our local paper the News Review
"Graffiti Weekend started out as an idea between the members of three car clubs who wanted to relive the '50s by cruising their classics down Harvard Avenue in 1982. It's evolved into one of Douglas County's most noteworthy events.
Featuring five days of hot rods and one-of-a-kind creations of all models, colors and horsepower, the event is expected to draw about 20,000 participants and spectators over its five-day span."
I have been thinking about this event for some time now, waiting for it to come so I could get some nice shots of the cars. I ended up going to the Show and Shine, one of the many events, where the owners bring their classics to River Forks Park and park them for passerby to view. What eye candy! So many colors, makes and models it's hard to choose a favorite.
Besides the Show and Shine they also have a parade where they block off downtown Roseburg and rev up for the crowd (called Graffiti Night Cruise). They may also participate in several Poker Runs.
These are just a few of the many events taking place over a five day period. I have been going to these since I was young and when the summer heat hits I always know that Graffiti won't be far behind. I hope you enjoy the photos, I had a wonderful time taking them!
