As a theatrical design and technology major at Otterbein College, I am required to take a photography class. This was good news to me because my next love, after theatre is art, specifically photography. The class I was in was very rudimentary, we spent the entirety of the quarter going over the basic principles and elements of design. When it came time to do the final project, my professor finally opened the criteria up to us. We were allowed to do whatever we chose. It just had to be coherent.

From the beginning, I knew I wanted to photograph the effects of suburban sprawl on small cities and towns. That didn't really turn out as well as I would have liked it to, so I decided to take a different route of inspiration. I looked to other artists work and decided I would use it as a means of my project.

I chose to do Roy Lichtenstein's "Crying Girl", Georgia O'Keefe's "Red Canna", John Singer Sargent's, "Mary Turner Austin", and Alphonse Mucha's "Flower". I was very lucky to have friends and family to support me in my artistic endeavours because without them this series would not be possible. The process was tedious, but totally worth it for the fun.
