Photo Essay

Where's the music at?

notes with no sound

The photos I chose were a brief overview of two days of me and the orchestra I'm in's time in Boston for a National competition to be the best of the best in the country. We were there for a total of five days, but they have changed my life in many different ways. The pictures truly show the way I thought of our trip, in all it's high points. I couldn't show the highest point of my trip though for two reasons...one, I was playing live on stage,(it's kinda hard to play and take pictures at the same time.) and two the pictures taken of us playing on the Boston Symphony Hall stage were not taken by me...

Anyway, the pictures you see are very symbolic to me because they are pictures of both the places I thought were the coolest looking places that we went, the people that have become the closets friends to me and truly my "instrumental family", and how we are constantly going and trying to improve our skills and always will. But, what I truly wanted people to see by the pictures that I took, was how it looked in the eyes of the musician, or at least the violinist in my case. In the point of view shoot that I took, I wanted to choose a background that shows how a musician has to think in a concert while at the same time showing the thought that we have in trying to think about the music. I finally ended up with the right kind of background...a plain background because when a musician plays they truly can't think of what the audience is doing, or how he might mess up in this or that part, they truly have to clear their mind and think of what is ahead and how fun it is to be playing.

These pictures aren't of just people, scenery, or points of view. They are the true symbolic reference of one musicians trail of thoughts in a place that he has never been so he could do what he loves to do and possibly get recognized...Nationally...for it. These pictures don't just represent the normal view but that of a much greater means. That is why these pictures represent to me a lifestyle of a great passion and love for the symbolic terms of the sounds of life and vision...
