Remarkable Rocks

Remarkable Rocks-The Bear

In the Flinders Chase National park on Kangaroo Island, South Australia is a place called "Remarkable Rocks."

Wind and rain over millions of years has eroded the granite dome into rocks of truly amazing shapes. The moss and lichen add some interesting yellow and red colors; add clouds and blue skies on a spring day for a fantastic visit.

One of two of the rocks reminded me of animals at the time, but only when I returned home and enlarged some of the photos did I begin to see all the animal shapes in the rocks.

Remarkable rocks makes me think of a magical place where animals are locked into the stone, but their spirits' emerge at dusk on full moon nights to wander over the area.

Be careful of the bear; he is a dark brooding presence and dangerous to those that do not respect his home.
