A simple intersection provides a window into what Americans are driving in an era of record gas prices. These photos are part of a series showing one intersection in a small town in the Hudson Valley on the Fourth of July, 2008. The lowest price for gas in the area that day was $4.26 per gallon.
As I looked through the camera and waited for the next vehicle to travel into view, I felt as if I was fishing. When the traffic disappeared, I had to wait patiently for my next opportunity to haul in a car. And I didn't know exactly what I was going to capture until I had caught it.
These photos highlight my catch -- each one reminds me of a matchbox car.
Let your intersection become your fishing hole and document what travels through it.
