Going on 18

High again

"98,99,100, done! Hide and seek!" this is how sometimes the old games of the childhood started, now all you can hear from the mouth of the children is "motherfu**er!", the beings that normally in the past, we respect it. This is our generation of today, an generation which wasn't what it used to be. The age of 12 it is an age in which you just learned what a game is, how to cross the street, how to go to the store in the corner of the street without your parents watching you, at that age you just knew what's an TV, but that was in the past. Once, with this sudden modern world, the traditional ways ran away too, so the respect on others and mostly the respect you have on yourself.

Yes, I'm seventeen, me the author of this article, but I say it loudly and proudly, that the teenage time is the best period from a life of a person. Though, I don't have the experience, I know very well how my teenage time started and it wasn't for sure how it is now. Nowadays, a teenager has 12 years old, not 14 years old, and I didn't say it! Nowadays, a teenager has to belong to a certain style, has to listen a certain music, has to talk in a certain way. Yes, probabily this is how it was from the beginning of the modern world, but from what it was good once, now it is bad. Nowadays, a teenager knows how to consume drugs, knows to drink, knows to smoke, things that normaly you don't discover at all, or as an excuse, you discover after a certain age. I don't think it is necessary to give an example, but at 12 years old to know what a drug is or a cigarette, is to much even for me, a teenage girl.

Once you started your teenage life, there is no turning back. From child you become a teenager, and from teenager you begome an adult. During teenage life, your parents teach you what is right and wrong, or they don't teach you at all, next is your choice if you want to be like everybody or like yourself. At the beginning, you want to try all that's available, everything is tempting, of course it doesn't start suddenly, but step by step the cigarette tempts you, then a glass of beer, than a can of beer, than again cigarette, and then your friend with a joint comes by, excelent, let's try that too, what the hell, i have only one life, what I have to lose?

What you have to lose? This is how addiction starts, the addiction not only for toxigenes, but addiction for freedom, the addiction of becoming free, without someone in your back all the time, pulling you again and again all the time. Yes ... freedom is nice, but isn't it a limit? Yes ... teenage life is nice, but isn't it worth thinking first? We notice everyday, cases and cases, of teenagers which runned away from home, of teenagers which died suddenly from a violent death, because of some disease or any other reason. Wasted lifes at a young age, everything starts to soon and from teribiliste reasons. At an age when you can discover your talent for a certain passion, you discover your talent of wasting your health on drugs and throwing your money away on every stupid thing.

All this happens because of our teribilism, our teenagers teribilisme, is being influenced not only by our parents but by our friends and idols too. We want to be like them or we don't want to be like them at all. We want to listen them or we don't want to listen them at all. Yes, we learn from our mistakes, but sometimes for some of us could be to late. It could be good to be popular and famous, but I'm starting to think that how much we try to rise ourself in others eyes we decrease in our own eyes.

Everyday I observe the teribilisme of my generation and I stay surprise, and I cannot get used! I remember how I used to steal cherrys from my neighbour, once at 12 years old, now at 12 years old they steal ATMs. I stay and I remember again, the moment when I discovered the internet for the first time, and that was at 14 years old, now all the kids which have 8 years old know what internet is and how to use it and especially, everything about grammar and what you study in school goes on water.

Everything I observe on the street, is my generation, a generation of sad people. A generation of sad young adults, which have no hope for the future and they just want to live the present, no matter if that is hurting them.

And yes, teenage life is beautiful. It is beautiful the moment when you get ready for your first prom, for miss freshman, the first going out with the person you likw. In my opinion, at 16 years old, is the time of discovering, the best part ever when you start to discover the beauty of being free, the beauty of having someone close to you, closer than just a simple friend. The beauty of discovering everything what's new.

Teenage life is beautiful, is the time when everything that flies it gets eaten, is the time when you can experiment everything that you catch, is the time when you teach what responsability means, is the time when you learn how to love what surrounds you, though you teach that through different paths.

Though we developed, though we have different rules for our old games or our new games are to different from our old ones, we are still teenagers. We still have to learn how to cross the street or where the store is, though it will be too sun, although after 18 years old, the surprise of bigger responsabilities waits for us to be involved in our life.

"The teenage life is not just an important period of our life, it is the only period when we can talk about life in the true meaning of the word." by Michel Houllebecq
