Ms. Eurodam

The evening of the 30th of June I am going to have a look at the Ms. Eurodam in the harbor of Rotterdam. The Ms. Eurodam is the latest (and biggest) addition to fleet of luxury cruise ship of the Holland America Line under the Dutch flag. The Eurodam has 12 decks a length of 290 meters and a width of 32.25 meters and has a maximum capacity of 2100 passengers and 800 crewmembers. Of course there are a lot of facilities for the passengers, for instance a number of pools, casino's, a theater with 1000 seats, and so on and so on...
For me these kinds of figures (did I mention that the ship is almost 300 meters long?) are enough reason to take my camera and tripod to have a look at this cruise ship, especially since she will not visit her hometown so frequently. The coming weeks she will make cruises in the vicinity of Scotland, Norway and Finland, to cross the Atlantic Ocean for the first time in August.
Because of the official the ceremonies with Queen Beatrix the next day there are a lot of fences and stages build around the ship. These fences make it impossible for me and all the other spectators to get close to the ship and the stages are blocking my view, so no close ups of details this time.
The location of the passenger terminal is at the Wilhelmina pier in the centre of the city of Rotterdam, the largest port of the world, close to the historical headquarter of the company. Despite the fences the pictures give a good impression of the size of this ship from various angles. Personally I find the massive back of the ship (I am pretty sure there is a real maritime term for this part of the ship) look very impressive and even in the dark the ship looks great. Just after sunset I had a great view from the Erasmus bridge on the Eurodam with some of the lights light.
