Superheroes

From the early days of black and white newsprint comic books to colorful and graphic movie representations of today, superheroes have been a childhood inspiration to eat our greens and drink our milk to grow big and strong. Most characters were depicted as model citizens who spent their life fighting crime rarely enjoying the joys of everyday life.
This photo series deals with the idea that even superheroes can be caught up in monotonous and simple activities of life that can often seem contradictory to one's preconceptions or outside front.
It also examines the art of the disguise. Besides their hero persona, most comic book legends were also normal looking people who could easily blend into society. They often looked like the same people even with their superhero disguise, yet nobody knew who they really were. Each image within this series is a self portrait where I have examined the same concept of having an alter ego.
My intent was to look like a completely different person in each photograph, strengthening the idea that the visual image affects one's perception of the subject to further the point that nobody is perfect behind closed doors.
