Lost in The Salton Sea

Breathe

The most distinct memory I have of The Salton Sea is the taste of the Salt

in the air. I remember opening my mouth and tasting the salt as if I had just swallowed a teaspoon of table salt. There is so much salt in the air that I remember my skin beginning to flake almost immediately as I dehydrated more and more by the minute. It is almost as if the salt has preserved the entire town. You can smell the death in the air from all of the fish that have washed ashore after having died of botulism. All of this I noticed in the first 5 minutes. It was the hours that I lost myself in. The details are the stories of lives that lived, loved, and lost themselves in The Salton Sea.
