My Metro, My Muse

Metros, subways, undergrounds or even s-bahns or street cars - it doesn't matter what they're called, I love them! No matter what city I travel to, if it has a public transportation system other than buses, I'm on board. They are usually inexpensive, easy to use and convenient. Another great thing is they allow me to participate in a favorite sport, people watching! I have photos from public transportation all over the world and it has given me access to a city's personality, it's residents and tourists (all of which are great photo subjects.)
This essay is about the Metro in my new home, Washington DC While most systems have unique stations and interesting architectural or artistic details, DC has the most standardized stations I've ever seen which is boring but also a wonderful opportunity to be creative.
These are a few photos that show a little of the potential that public transportation holds and will hopefully inspire you to look at the subway (or whatever you call it) differently.
