Date Night, Photoshoot or Both?

It began as a date night for my husband and me. Our friend Bill had organized a dinner/dance for the weekend following Valentine's Day. We had never heard of the entertainment he had lined up for the evening. We thought it was two groups, "Rico and the Ravens" and "Pentagon." Turned out they were one and the same, just different sets within their act. Bill and his lady friend sat at our table for dinner and he saw we had cameras with us. He said something along the lines of, "Oh good, you have your cameras. I've been meaning to get some shots of my lighting setup." Bill is a sound and lighting guy. He had set up his lighting and sound equipment in the catering hall where the dinner/dance was being held.
I took some tentative photos from the table, feeling fairly self concious and not wanting to draw attention to myself. Michael then took over and moved closer to the stage. He came back to the table after a while and showed me what he had captured. I felt emboldened to go out shoot for a while. And so it went back and forth. He shot, I shot, he shot. We both took a TON of pix on the Nikon. I took some on the Olympus while he was busy with the Nikon. We kept going like that 'til sometime in the middle of the third set. The band was great ... super high energy, funny and truly talented musicians who have been together for a lot of years.
We filled up close to 4GIG of SD cards that evening and eventually came away with close to 300 really decent shots of Bill's lighting and the band.
