Those Damn Power Lines

We all know that JPG Magazine is not about following the rules we learn in Photography 101. The inspiring photos on their web site proves that!
There are many of you that have inspired me and Mark R. Nelson is one of them. His photo, Power 2184, amazed me. He took what normally would be an eyesore and turned it into a piece of art!
I had the opportunity to capture a beautiful sunset and there were those hideous power lines. Then I remembered Mark's unique photo and decided to include them in my own. Now I could have driven down little further to eliminate them from view but I may have missed out on the peek of that beautiful sunset.
Well I got the shots I wanted and I didn't have to use Photo Shop. I downloaded my photos and was surprisingly happy that it was OKAY to have power lines included in the photo.
Mark you have given me a new outlook on what is right and wrong, good and bad, ugly and beautiful. I have always been one to break rules and I try to open myself up to new ideas. It keeps my interest in photography alive. So don't be afraid to break some rules and you might surprise yourself!
