Road from Cape Leveque

My first visit to Australia was a dream come true. Since I can remember I had always wanted to explore the other side of the world. Now I finally stood there - in the northern part of west Australia. Cape Leveque an award-winning Aboriginal owned wilderness camp in a beautiful and remote paradise offering beautiful nature and quietness. During the season Cape Leveque is a popular spot to go fishing, swimming and snorkeling or just sit back and relax with your family. We arrived here in the end of the dry season a bit nervous about the thunderstorms hitting the coast further northeast from here. Anyway we decide to drive the 220kms most of which is unsealed road and only accessible in our 4WD from Broome to the tip of Dampier Peninsula. Upon arrival we get a nice camping spot just next to the sea. It is fantastic we share the campsite with only two other apart from the friendly manager. This is paradise! Well maybe except for the potential risk of saltwater crocodiles, but we should be on safe grounds - for years no one have see any crocodiles around here.

Being on a peninsula we have the opportunity to enjoy both the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening. Evermore we plan to stay here for a few days so there is not much to do except swimming and.

The next morning I wake up early because of the warm weather. After a quick shower in the shelter I am on the beach with my Nikon D200 together with the 12-24mm f/4 nikkor and a tripod.

After exploring the peninsula all day we drive to the other side to have dinner and enjoy the sunset.

Leaving Cape Leveque the next day I am happy that I really managed to capture the nice scenes, the color and the changing light.
