Fun is my Job.

What's your profession? Please describe it.
Typically I started at my company as a "drafter" but worked my way up and taught myself computer animation. With a few classes and certifications later I am now Lead Animator. Along with that duty, being part of the marketing department, I was saddled with taking pictures of products. Not knowing anything about a camera, I accepted it as a challenge and jumped right in and started taking in everything I could. Several years later I am now the resident photographer/videographer for what makes out to be one of the coolest jobs anyone can ask for. I'm still far from being a pro but everything I've learned I learned here.
Where do you do this?
You've seen my companies fountains and water playgrounds all over the world. From Disney World (and Land) to Abu Dhabi... from Universal Studios to London. We are based out of San Marcos, TX and are one of the biggest Fountain and Aquatic Playground companies in the world.
Do you enjoy what you do?
Who couldn't enjoy a job like this?
When you were young, what did you want to "be" when you grew up?
I went through different stages. Since I can remember holding a pencil I always drew pictures of anything and everything I saw. I was always told I should be an architect. For some reason, people think that because you like to draw that links you to architecture. Architecture is a more precise form of laying down artistic ideals... which, I don't know... maybe it was a valid suggestion. Either way, guess what? I'm not an architect. I grew a little older and music became a huge part of my life. So needless to say I wanted to live the ROCK N ROLL dream. Guess what? Not in a band anymore. I finally found my calling in computer animation and video with photography following soon after and now becoming one of the biggest parts of my life. I hope to one day become professional and be more reliant on photography.
Do you feel stuck doing what you are doing?
I am stuck. I can't think of anything else I'd rather do.
What are the most and least satisfying parts of your job?
The most satisfying parts of my job are seeing my animations, renderings, photos, videos, etc... actually becoming a finished product. I love to see a finished fountain or water park that was once one of my very own computer generated visualizations. I love to see a photo in a magazine that is distributed all over the world. When I arrive at one of my parks, I love seeing the look on people's faces as they play and cool off in something I worked on years ago in CAD form and 3D Generated. And now I'm there to take the pictures.
How do you combine photography with your job?
Hm. Let me think............................................
