Lonely waves

Curling out across a span of space are waves that will never lap a shore or feel the weight of a surf board. They won't ever get to feel the freedom of curling across the wide blue sea. These waves are confined to sidewalks, walls or maybe a gate or sign if they are lucky. On signs they will light up and might even get to move across the sign in wave like fashion. But, on walls, gates or buildings they are forever stuck in the curl of time. Occasionally, we are close enough to the ocean to smell the sea air and feel the ocean breezes. Once, on a gate I was blown so hard that I swayed in the breeze and imagined that I was curling onto the shore. The sea gulls like us though. They sit on us which makes us feel very sea worthy even if we do have to wait for rain to wash away their traces. Don't feel sorry for us because we may be confined to the boundaries of the city. People still seem to like us, even if we aren't wet, we are still inviting to help decorate their lives and fulfill their wishes for the sea. So, we really aren't as lonely as we seem.
