Photo Essay

You're Gone

Bande A Parte

People grow apart

We are pulled in different directions

In Love with you

But you are so far

We are not the same as

We used to be

I wanted to play around with doing double exposures on the film by rewinding the film and putting it through the camera twice. It was 400asa speed Tri-x film, that I reeled through my Minolta SRT 202 twice at 800asa. In order to get the pictures in relatively the right spot, I had to put a sharpie mark exactly where the film and the canister met once it was caught in the reel and I began shooting. These traditional darkroom prints were done by taking pictures in Bethayres, Pennsylvania and then taking pictures of broken ice cream cones and the processes of melting ice cream. I wanted to portray feelings of loneliness and struggle, and the darkness and muddyness of the double exposure just adds to the confusion.
