I have been receiving a few questions from my JPG fellow friends on this technique "How to turn your photos to an aged tone using Photoshop", so I thought I'd post this article to share with you all a few tips by doing the following steps:
Sample image click here...>>>>
1. Image >Mode >Grayscale
2. Image >Mode >RGB Color
3. Image >Adjustments >Curves
4. In RGB Channel, enter 40 value for both Input & Output (depends on the contrast of the original photo)
5. In the Curves option, change to Blue channel, then enter 180 value Input & 200 value for the Output. Click OK.
6. Image >Adjustments >Color Balance
7. Enter +10, 0, -10
You can emphasize the color tones by increasing either red, yellow or blue tone by switching to "Shadows" or "Highlights" in Tone Balance. Click OK when done.
Final touch is Sharpen the image to give it a bit more texture & focus by using Smart Sharpen tool.
8. Filter > Sharp > Smart Sharpen
9. Enter 100% in Amount, 2.0 pixels in Radius
10. Click drop down list Remove "Gaussian Blur" or "Lens Blur" or "Motion Blur" to suit your taste.
Also, there's another way to do quick enhance your photos with the aged tone using "Match Color" option.
Sample image click here... >>>>
1. Download the image which has got a color tone that you like to do match color. You can use my photo as an example, save it then open it in PS.
2. Open photo that needs to be edited
3. Image >Adjustments >Match Color
4. Look under Image Statistics section, click on Source drop down menu then select the example image.
5. Now you can edit your photo by adjusting the "Luminance, Color Intensity, Fade & Neutralize" options to suit your taste.
Folow steps 8-10 from the first tip to finalize the image.
That's all folks! Enjoy!
