Please help stop the abuse!!!

We hide - in long grass, in water, in sand, across the road and even in trees, but still they hunt us down...
With their long sticks and laughter - in hot weather and cold - they mercilessly beat us and smack us for miles and miles...
At dawn and noon and throughout the day we are punished.
We have no idea why - we did nothing wrong...
They balance us on a peg and hit us as hard as they can with their clubs one after the other.
Most times there are 4 of them... bullies with great big giant clubs...
Once they crack us off the peg you would think it was over, but no - they then stroll down to where we lay - taking their sweet time about it...
Select another stick and hit us a again... repeating this over and over... sometimes up to 100 times in a day...!
It's sick I tell you - we try to hide... sometimes in a lake sometimes in a tree (if we are lucky)...
Other times we make it into long grass and lay all quiet and tiny - while they swish the grass and curse our errant ways...
Oh dear if they find us...!!!
Please help while you can...
Quick! Here they come... hide... hold your breath... be very small... get under that leaf... pray they will pass...
