A Special Gift that Keeps on Giving

On Mother's Day of 2003 my father took my son, who was eleven years old at the time, to Wal-Mart to buy a gift for me. They came back home with this beautiful pink climbing rose plant. I was deeply touched by the gesture and have treasured the gift more than many other gifts that I have been so fortunate to receive since that day.
My father passed away the following March, but the gift he so generously gave, lives on. We planted the rose next to the back door. The plan was to be able to see the beautiful roses everytime we used that door, which was every day! The climbing rose plant flourished and each year produced some of the most breath-taking roses I've ever seen.
In September of 2006 we moved into a new home...we also moved the climbing rose plant, and planted it just outside the door, where it continues to give back by producing beautiful pink roses!!
The climbing rose bush has flourished! The photographs in this essay were all taken from this climbing rose bush.
I'll cherish the memory, of my father taking my young son to buy this special gift. I will also cherish the fact that his special gift keeps giving and giving! I get great personal pleasure and joy just from looking at the wonderful roses produced each year!!
I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoy seeing them!!
Happy Mother's Day to all our mothers in the JPG family!!!
