redifining mary

This essay is a commentary about the different roles of Virgin Mary in our society and the contradictory nature of her attributes: purity and beauty, seduction and modesty, virginity and birth. The aims of redefining mary is that of recreating her representation not only for the sake of art, but also for the sake of the images, the church and Virgin Mary itself, using contemporary art forms and styles such as fashion photography, and digital art. This is a reflection of the inconsistencies of our society's rules and roles; is a commentary on the way we conceive, market, and absorb images; is a new way of conceiving religion; is not an attack or a critique on faith. It is a comment, is a question, more than about church, about ourselves.
