If I could talk to the Gorillas

Like children that meet for the first time, I stood face to face with a family of Western Lowland Gorillas. In Africa, this encounter can end in one of two ways. The beautiful Gorillas can accept this skinny biped into it's territory, or they can signal the 450lb male to violently explain why I should be leaving.
But this is not Africa. This is a Wild Life Reserve in San Diego California. It's the most amazing sanctuary to witness these beautiful Primates. The safety railing either keeps them from us, or me from going over to introduce myself. There is no other group of animals that have this kind of effect on me. It's their facial expressions. The way they rest their hands. The way they look at me.
I could watch them for hours. I just wish I could talk to them, and I can't explain why.
