"Shooting" for "Rolling Stone."

Starting with my folio piece half way through 2007, which was named 'Rock Star Journalism", and shooting many, many portrait photos, I decided to continue on the same road.
Although I started thinking about my year 12 folio (im in year 12 this year) over my christmas break, I really only had a rough idea to continue photojournalism, and shooting for different magazines.
I wanted to do this as it allowed me to also learn how to take different types of photographs (skating, nature, automotive) compared to the 'usual' portraits i've been used to taking.
Once back at school myself and a few close friends started to mass-brainstorm magazines, coming up with about 20 (both national and international) that would be possible for me to 'shoot' for.
I then wrote up several copies of my design brief (our intentions for the year, a major part for my end of year mark). After my year 12 teacher read my deign brief we sat down to have a discussion about how many magazines and how much learning i would be doing. He explained to me that year 12 '...isnt a year to learn, its a year to show off what you know!" With that in mind, I decided to focus on one portraiture magazine, that in mind, with my high interest in music, I would be 'shooting' for 'Rolling Stone'. 'Rolling Stone' was also the first magazine i put onto the original magazine list.
So off I started on my year long venture of 'shooting for Rolling Stone'. Another thing that attracted me to the magazine was the MTV program "Im From Rolling Stone".
So far I have come up with about 10 ideas (and still continuing) which are enough ideas (as I need about 4 print at the end of the year).
The photos present are that of my Mark, Kyle, Ben shoot, which was very relaxed and fun (which is the atmosphere i like to have when shooting).
The next part of my project is to create the "Rolling Stones" cover using Illustrator and Photoshop.
I have left a fair bit of time to do this (as positioning, cropping and colouring the photos will take a time).
So if your looking for a cool photo project and are looking for a job in photojournalism this is a great fun project.
You can either try reproducing some of the classic Annie Leibovitz covers, or shooting your own (like i am).
Hope you have fun!
