Model v.s. Photographer
By Photo Girl
15 April 2008
I attended the Portland workshop organized by Mr. T.
I must say that this is a fantastic forum for a group of photographers to get together and shoot for art. The location was brilliant, the other models beautiful and so easy to work with and a fantastic group of photographers
I participated this time around primarily as a model rather than a photographer. And I must say at the end of the day, I still prefer to be the photographer. However, I learned some valuable lessons from my experience, lessons that will make me a better photographer in every aspect.
There are expectations that a model has with the photographer, expectations a photographer has with the model, and expectations that each has with themselves in the role that they play.
I truly believe that all photographers should be a model at some point to further understand the complex dynamics that accompany a shoot.
I will expand on this as I finalize my thoughts and what I learned about from this day....
These workshops are an incredible opportunity to broaden one's "eye", creativity and allow for us to capture the "fun" in shooting without the competitive nature of the world of professional photographers, perhaps they have enhanced and rekindled the passions we all have in creating an image, I know it has for me, I am more motivated, more directed and overall more passionate about being a photographer than I've felt in some time. ... I'll come back to this....
