Photograph what you know, what's close to you.
That's kind of been my work ethic. And it was with that philosophy that I decided to photograph people that I spoke to on fan forums on the internet. Who were these people with silly names who spent too much of their lives discussing tour dates and set lists? Arguing about Ryan's well publicized 'meltdowns', his jeans, his girlfriends??
I decided I would go to as many shows as possible to photograph my new friends. The concerts became, for me, more than just seeing the band play, they became a social experience. We share lifts in cars, spare tickets, places in line, places by the stage.
We share hotel rooms, money, food. And in real life, just like online, we fall in love, fight, make up.
They are me. And they are more than me.
I intend for these photographs to introduce the fans as who they are, but keeping their true identity secret. To show that they are more than their obsession.
