Photo Essay

Costa Maya, Mexico - Before the Storm!

Costa Maya

Here a just a few of the DOZENS of photos from my cruise of September 2006, when we ported at Costa Maya.

Then Hurricane Dean Hit in 2007 and destroyed the beautiful scenery.

And Costa Maya was beautiful, as you can see from the photos! The blue water, the sandy beach, the clear blue sky!

There is a proposed date of September 2008 to have everything up and running again, but it will never be the same as these photos.

The fountain was in the shopping complex as you entered the plaza at the port.

The restaurant, the Cats' Meow, and Mahahual hotel were "downtown", where we had to get to by bus.

"Downtown" was unlike any other "downtown" I ever saw.

The main street was all dirt, the vendors lined up along the beach, and the restaurant had a beautiful sitting area under the shade of palms.

Unfortunately, the only things I have to remember this wonderful are my "Cats' Meow" T-shirt, and dozens of wonderful photographs.

I am anxious to see what it will look like when I go back!

Soon!
