So today was the best day ever... I received my Leica D-Lux 3 in the mail.
Unwrapping it was the best part, it came in a box which was filled with styrofoam balls, so I had to search through this big box to find two small little boxes in the middle. Two small little boxes? Yes... Not only did I buy the Leica but I also bought the super retro, amazing and super sexy looking leather case. Ok, so the case is super over priced, but to me, it is totally worth it. It looks like something your grandfather owned, and it will only get better with time...
As I pulled the small boxes out of the big postage box, I was almost filled with anxiety... I was thinking about all the money I had spent on these things and was hoping that my money was well spent.
A lot of people had told me that I was stupid and should have just bought the Lumix which is pretty much the same and can be found for about $200 cheaper. Suddenly all these things popped into my head as I sat there, about to open a box with a camera I had spent my hard earned money on.
I opened the box and set up the camera. I had no patience so I think that I charged the battery for about 3 to 5 minutes and then had to pop it in and give the camera a whirl.
I took tons of pictures while sitting on my couch in my living room. I played with the aperture, the ISO, the macro, the manual setting, everything...
And do you know what I learned? That the Leica D-Lux 3 is the best point and shoot ever. The over exposed pictures came out beautifully, the under exposed pictures came out artsy looking. It was hard to take a bad picture with the amazing lens on the camera.
I walked away from my boxes with a big smile on a my face and with a new best friend.
My plan now that I have this amazing camera is to take it everywhere, give it the love it deserves and always use it.
I have added pictures I took in my first moments with the camera. And I want to thank my friend, Jason, who was eager to play with my new camera and took the pictures of me.
My recommendation. If you have an SLR (I have one which is constantly being left at home), get a Leica and you will never worry about missing a great moment or about taking a bad picture.
