AHPT - Alternative Human Powered Transportation

Where ever we go, we travel to that location using some sort of transportation. Over the years the car has become a predominant way of commuting, to get from a to z. Even the short distances seem to be predominantly traveled by using the car or maybe public transport. Still in many cities of the world the bicycle is still a very popular and cheap way to getting to your destination within the city limits.
Cities like Bejing, Amsterdam, Mumbai etc still seem wallpapered by this type of humanly powered transport. But there are more ways to getting there, skateboards, walking, skating even taking the rowboat also still seem to work. With economies like those of China and India moving fast to becoming like the Western economies more cars will become the favored way of transport and fossil fuel will become even more quickly "extinct".
Maybe we should put mandatory use of bicycles in front of our politicians on a global scale and start with 1 or 2 days a week using AHPT if possible. The air would smell nicer, the airways of our bodies would not be irritated as much and both public health and the use of alternative transport would benefit on the whole from it.
Maybe wishful thinking but still doable I think...
