Impact!

The pre flood mist beckons the rain, drawing the clouds to a gathering, thier fury has yet to be seen.
City lights push beams to break the gloom.
Each transverse is shrouded as if grasp by mother nature.
The steel and concrete exhudes confidence it can withstand the coming storm. "Rage on" it hums, "we have seen worse, or future is certain, destroy us we will rebuild, flood us we will dry."
We slip out into the storm to gather our supplies and find Old Lonely waving us down reminding us who we are.
The next day springs on us and we venture out at Sunset to survey the impact. The city of Louisville,Kentucky looks back from the wet zone dripping with relief. The flood has grasp it's roots but it stands defiant.
Our journey takes by the Ohio River Falls that use to be there at the base of the Barge Docks, the river was 50 ft lower here last week.
Evening falls and the riverwalk lamps flicker on admist the swirling waters, lighting steps leading to depths that have been overtaken (or is it; retaken).
The city lights swell with pride,"we have survived",they scream! The transverses rumble darkly splitting the grinning city.
Behind us, time keeps ticking by, unaffected by the impact of Nature on man.
