Freedom for the Free

Flag of Understanding

This is a follow on from Wissam and Carl's idea of 1000 images.

Wissam suggested ideas of freedom and gave me a couple of ideas, but you know what, it's really difficult to come up with an idea that really captures freedom throughout all cultures, everywhere. My comment however, is there is no real freedom, not for everyone, not all the time.

My image is I feel will be fairly universally recognised and is paraded proudly throughout major cities in the world in recognition of the gay and lesbian communities.

However, no matter what culture, what country, the gay and lesbian communities are at best only tolerated, never fully accepted. In other places ostracized, possibly with the penalty of imprisonment or death.

Those of you who are gay, especially openly so, with or without a partner, do you feel comfortable no matter where you go? Are you truly free to express yourself as you would like? No matter where, do you hug your partner, exchange kisses?

If we can't even recognise someone's differences as basic as this, how can we ever achieve world peace, freedom in the world?

So am I gay or straight? Does it really matter
