Haiti: To Change A Life

What does it take to change a life? Friendship, love, money, food, water?
I recently took a trip to a mission in Port de Paix, Haiti where I found the answer. While there I worked at a local orphanage, adoption home, and free school. I encountered many children that although lacking some of lifes basic necessities were very much still children. These children laughed, cried, played, smiled, loved, and got in trouble. Very much like my kids do at home. But these children encounter every day struggles that they shouldn't.
So what does it take to change a life? It takes friendship, love, money, food, and water. Some of the children in these photos have been given a chance to go to school due to the generosity of others through sponsorship. Others pictured have not been so lucky. However all of them need something. Some just want someone who will play with them, others would be grateful for clean water, still others would be happy to be able to eat.
I live in a country were these basic needs of life are easy to fulfill. So easy in fact that I often times take them for granted. We hear on the news of countries struggling to survive and it never really hits home. I ask that you look at these kids, really look at them. Don't just glance over the photos but instead look into their eyes. Know that they are just kids and are in great need of our help. Not just these kids but kids all across the world.
My hope is that these photos will spur you on to help make the change in just one child's life in this world. Maybe that is through adoption, or maybe through a child sponsorship program. Or maybe you are supposed to go and help directly. If each one of us who could, helped one child who needs it, then in one generation we could change the world.
It starts with just one person. That one person isn't someone else. It's you. Decide today to help make a difference and change the world.
If you are interested in helping some of the children pictured here email lfmkids@lfmintl.com for information on the child sponsorship program.
