How To

The best photo advice ive ever recieved... from a homeless man

The Blood Bowl
Fresh Fun
Fake is a verb

So me and my friend becca were on one of our many photo-journeys, and were walking around downtown columbus near these bridges, and a ship which is meant to replicate that of christopher columbus's. So we walked passed the homeless man,, who was sleeping in his sleeping bag under an awning, with several A&W cans rolling around him in the breeze, he heard our feet crunching in the snow and awoke from his cold sleep, and gave a courtesy nod, as did we. We then stopped briefly and asked him whats up, and he said not too much, and he returned the question, to which we replied "o just taking pictures", he said huh, did u take any over there, (pointing towards the bridge) and we said yep, and im like so do you know any good spots? He then looked around in both direction left and right, then looked back and said.. "Everywhere! if your any good you can make any spot a good spot!" and we laughed and said good bye. It wasnt until about 5 minutes later that it struck me that what he said was entirely true. No matter how boring you may think your area that your taking pictures in is, it has the same potential for you to take great pictures of it, as to a place that the oppurtunities might seem more obvious. Through using our photography, we can take great pictures of things that are typically boring, that way when people see our work, a new light can shine upon their previous thinking and make them appreciate its true potential to be somethign great. I didnt get to thank that man because of my blindness to the brilliance of his statement, but i wish i had because it was something which most people over look/think, but this homeless man was able to point it out to me. Thanks homeless man!
