NYC a smaller slice of the apple

Even though I visited the US many times before I ended up landing on JFK for a visit to my gf who just moved there, NYC always was kind of mystical to me. So many movies , series and documentaries had been made about this city called the Big Apple that I already felt I knew it through and trough, how wrong was I?
Nearly six years down the road I still have not had enough of NYC, every time I go back (which is about 5-7 a year) I find something new that is worth immortalizing. This year I discovered the DUMBO area in Brooklyn just over the Brooklyn Bridge. Many artists are moving there and it seems the film industry shares my feelings on the gritty and timelessnesses of this neighborhood as they shoot nearly continuously through the year (like (like Chuck and Larry and the new Diaz and Kutcher flick "What Happens in Vegas". The people, the architecture, the contrast between have and have nots. The dark, gritty and eary feeling you sometimes get when walking down the streets at night it all makes NYC indescribable and lovable. And even though I am living on the European continent, I call NYC my second home......love it or hate it, you can't ignore it.
