Gator Dogs

Gator Dog

I love photographing animals. I look into their eyes and see so much expression from inside out and truly their "actions speak louder than words." Photographing horses was the motivating force behind my move to Ocala, Fla (Horse Capital of the World) but lately I have been finding inspiration at dog parks around the Gainseville area. One particular park, Squirrel Ridge is the gathering place for hundreds of dogs and their owners who meet regularly at various times of the week. Most owners are students who attend the University of Central Florida(home of the Florida Gators) but of course there all kinds of "regular folk" as well. All seem to enjoy the space and freedom offered them by the city to share with their pets .

Needless to say the dogs are in "Hound Heaven". They greet each other with boundless enthusiasm. "The "regulars" seem to know exactly who they want to run and "shmooze" with first. They are more confident and easy to spot. The new and less experienced dog "parkers" are excited but apprehensive about the entourage of tail waggers waiting at the gate.. However, after a few sniffs and playful advances they all join together , bounce about and have a "dog wild" time!

Owners proudly watch as their dogs run across the open field during this time that is "uniquely" their own; letting "dogs be dogs" to party in Puppy Paradise!" If playtime gets a little rough or out of hand they are ready to intervene on a moments notice. Everyones priority in dog park is to have fun and "keep the peace!"

Photographing so much action and sponteneouty is quite the challenge. Surprising results is always the "icing on the cake!" Dog Park is an animal photographers candystore. So much so that lately Im feeling "my own tail" wag upon entrance through the "Gator Dog" gates! Well, I hope thats just a passing phase!

"Ciao!"

I love to see animals playing with each other. I have cats, that are all littermates. I usually take pics of them individually, but it's so much fun when they play. I wish that I could go visit this doggy haven!
