Darkness. Silence.

Darkness. Silence.

You open your heavy eyelids to view a plain white wall. You are almost squinting because the light is so bright. The room is cold and smells of cleaning products. You are sitting in a cold metal chair. Unable to move, it's as though are paralyzed. In the distance you hear voices. You can't make out what they are saying. You know that they are talking about you. Your mind wanders, "What is going to happen to me? Why am I here?"

Footsteps. First faint, now they seem as though they are the beating drum of a marching band. They are coming closer to your side. The door opens and sweat starts to develop on your brow. You can hear your heart beating faster as the footsteps stop behind you. You feel their breath on the back of your neck. He whispers, "I'm sorry."

A jolt of pain rushes through your neck and down to your legs. Screams of pain escape your mouth causing the man behind you to run out of the room. Your breathing comes faster and it feels like you are running out of air. You stand holding you throat wanting it to allow air into your lungs. The room starts to spin as you fall to the ground. Tears are streaming down your cheeks and into your mouth. The taste lingers as you lie on the ground in pain, hearing only your heartbeat. You slowly close your eyes trying to wish yourself in a different place.

Sweat is trickling down the side of your face, your breathing is rapid. When you start to calm down you notice you arte no longer cold. You are in your own bed with the covers still nicely tucked around you. You sit up, open your heavy eyelids. Take a deep breath.

Darkness. Silence
