The Sunset Spot

Just south of the Ocean Beach Pier is one of the most popular sunset watching areas in San Diego. The Santa Cruz Street Access on Sunset Cliffs can be one of the more picturesque viewing points in the county. However, it is usually overrun by people, making it almost impossible to get an unobstructed sunset photo. It is crowded with younger people either scoring weed, or smoking it while the sun sets, and to some can be a little intimidating. Most of the people that gather there are either friendly, or unobtrusive, so the danger level is low. It can be a fun place if you don't mind the smell of burning grass and drum circles. I usually frequent this spot early in the morning, when i get it all to myself. The beach transforms throughout the year as the tides wash away sand, exposing the rocks at low tide and the moss blooms to an emerald green during certain parts of the year.

Great article, and I agree, the OB hippies are more of a nuisance than any sort of threat.
