Jono - A Fisherman

It was my second visit to Sumberkima yesterday. A small village located about 138 northern of Denpasar - Bali.

It was very hot and humid. If Denpasar is around 34 degrees of Celcius today, I guess it was about 35 - 36 degrees there yesterday.

However that place is a nice place, very tranquil. I had a good time yesterday.

It is located very near to the second airport of Bali will be.

I went visiting a fisherman house. His name is Jono, his age about 60 years old, but he is in a good health. He is a very happy and friendly fisherman.

Mostly fishermen living in that area catching beautiful decorative fishes. Originally they are from Madura - a small island near Java, but they have had staying there for more than 3 generations according to Jono.

Jono served us nice young coconut during our visit yesterday. He climbed the tree himself. Amazing, on his age he can climb a coconut tree.

Actually for taking picture it was too late, the sun has gone up over my head. However, I love the pictures I have taken.

I believe in 5 years more, this fishermen village will be changed. The development of the second international airport will have impact in their economy and social aspect.

Maybe in 5 years time, I won't see this fishermen village again.

Many hotels has started being built in the nearby area now. From a simple homestay to luxurious 5 stars accommodations. According to the head of the village, the occupancy rate is quite ok for a remote area like Sumberkima.

The name of Sumberkima actually taken from a legend story. Kima means a kind of seashells. Sumber means source. According to the story, there was a big kima which has a source of water inside its shell. Right now, the source of water still available in the village. But I did not have a chance to visit it.

Well, yesterday's trip was tiring, but I had a good time!
